Castlepoint Numa Developments (“Castlepoint Numa”) announces an extended lease commitment from Pride Toronto and Zeidler at its landmark Auto BLDG in Toronto’s Lower Junction Triangle. After outgrowing their existing spaces in just over two years, Pride Toronto has doubled down, expanding from roughly 4,000 sq ft to 8,000 sq ft, while Zeidler has expanded their space by 25 percent. Now 90 per cent occupied, the Auto BLDG draws a unique ecosystem of businesses in the arts, technology, and creative sectors.

Pride Toronto, a not-for-profit organization that celebrates the history, courage, and diversity of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, made the Auto BLDG its headquarters in 2020. With its staff count already doubling in size, and continuing to grow, additional space was needed to foster a collaborative environment coupled with smaller meeting rooms for private meetings. The turnkey, open-concept space supports the organization’s expanding programming, including community working sessions, parade logistics and a safe space for external 2SLGBTQI+ agencies.

“Over the last few years, Pride Toronto has seen immense growth and the Auto BLDG has been our home base. While we quickly outgrew our original space, we were not ready to say goodbye to this location and community,” says

Zeidler moved into the Auto BLDG in January 2020. The expansion of their office space comes with immense growth in the architecture firm’s business, across Canada. Congratulations to Daniel Libeskind, architect of Castlepoint Numa's L-Tower, for receiving the ‘Dresden Peace Prize’ at the Dresden Semper Opera House for his outstanding and influential memorial architecture.


His approach leaves no room for ignorance and relativisation. The form, the architecture itself sets the course for remembrance. Whether it is the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the 9/11 Memorial in New York, the Imperial War Museum in Manchester or the Holocaust Memorial in Amsterdam. His work also includes the Military History Museum in Dresden, whose architecture has become an anti-war museum and the most important place in Dresden for coming to terms with the consequences of militarism and wars.

Thornbury Acres is a collaborative homesteading culture designed to empower families to actively participate in the farm to fork cycle.

Homesteading families will have access to the tools, training, and infrastructure to be completely self-sufficient throughout the year. The cooperative will work together to support each other through the production, preservation, preparation, consumption and sale of agricultural goods produced by the community.

A couple weeks ago, Castlepoint Numa was thrilled to be celebrated by Frontlines and the community for our support of the Frontlines’ Culinary Skills Training program. During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic we outfitted the Frontlines building at 1800 Weston Road with a restaurant-quality catering kitchen. This assisted Frontlines in achieving its programming aspirations, including employment readiness training for the restaurant industry for at-risk youth and young adults. In thanks, Frontlines renamed the kitchen the “Castlepoint Community Kitchen” and installed a plaque on the entrance door. Thank you to Councillor Nunziata and MPP Faisal Hassan for your kind words and attending this community celebration!

The Toronto Biennial of Art starts this Friday! Castlepoint Numa is proud to support this important, city-building event, which runs for ten weeks every two years in locations across the city and in surrounding areas. After a yearlong delay due to the covid-19 pandemic, it is fantastic that the Toronto Biennial of Art is back!

From March 26, 2022 to June 5, 2022 the Biennial will provide free access to contemporary artworks, talks, and performances by local and international artists. Castlepoint Numa is particularly thrilled with the programming line-up at our building at 72 Perth Avenue - we hope to see you there!

We are thrilled to announce that Toronto City Council approved our rezoning application for 72 Perth Avenue today!

The proposed 9-storey building includes 108 rental residential units, with a focus on 2 and 3-bedroom units.A portion of those units will be affordable rental units and WoodGreen Community Services is helping us to manage these units. There will also be garden units at grade along Perth Avenue as well as three two-storey live-work units designed for artists.

Transformed Auto BLDG is Home to a New Creative Cultural Ecosystem

Weston Area Emergency Support (“WAES”) is a critical part of the community infrastructure in the Weston Village neighborhood in Toronto. As a food bank, WAES is instrumental to ensuring that folks have their basic food needs met. This was especially critical for vulnerable community members in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns and the end of CERB payments. For most of 2021 WAES saw an average of 1,800 visits per month, with an increase to 2,350 visits for the last two months of the year. Seniors were 8% of the users pre-pandemic, which doubled to 16% during 2021. More and larger families began using the food bank. 30% of the users are under 18 years of age. And 76% of the overall users are BIPOC.

The Auto BLDG at 158 Sterling won the "Rebuild" award for buildings that are anchoring the transformation of a former brownfields site/community at the 2021 Canadian Brownfield Awards on November 23, 2021. Adam Feldman and Edward Yu of

The Weston BIA has organized the inaugural Weston Winterfest in lieu of the annual Santa Claus parade, which is cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Castlepoint was delighted to sponsor two ice sculptures, one of Olaf from the Disney film 'Elsa' and one of snow angel wings. These and other ice sculptures will be placed throughout Weston to encourage attendees to explore the neighborhood and practice social distancing. There will also be games and holiday treats. We'll see you there November 19th-November 20th, 2021!

Weston Winterfest 2021

As an ardent supporter of the arts, Castlepoint has supported the Mayor's Evening for the Arts to benefit the Toronto Arts Foundation since the event's inception. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this year's event on November 15, 2021 was again virtual but with some technology upgrades compared to the 2020 event. The introduction of livestream programming that allowed participants to watch performances at the Royal Conservatory of Music, participate in panel discussions, and watch live painting as well as interact with the painter through the chat function. It was very cool!
